What is a VA Loan?
VA loans are loans used for either purchase or refinance that are guaranteed by the U.S. Veteran’s Administration and offer long-term financing to active duty military, reservists, and veterans. The VA determines the eligibility of the veteran. VA loans typically have loosened guidelines for qualification than FHA of conventional mortgages. There is no down payment or mortgage insurance required on a VA loan.
VA Loan Limits
Although there is no true loan limit for VA, if you go above the county loan limit you are required to put down a percentage of the amount over the loan limit. The nationwide loan limit is $424,100. However, different counties have different limits on how much you can borrow for a VA Loan. San Diego County has a loan limit of $612,950.
